A dramatisation of the story surrounding the death by hanging of the Quaker Mary Dyer in 1660

Mary Dyer

Quaker, hanged, Boston 1660 in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

She was a dissenter unto death over what is claimed the Colony’s “abuse of civil and religious power” by both Puritan civil magistrate and (the near) theocracy.

The Play explores her dramatic presence in the Puritan-Quaker religious-civil confrontation in the Colony.

Did she display unflinching courage dedicated-server.reviews in demonstrating spiritual conviction in the struggle for freedom in religious beliefs and for conscience’s sake? cloud-hosting.reviews Or was she an unyielding, deluded religious fanatic, as the Puritan leadership claimed?

This Play is set during the Quaker ‘invasion’ of this burgeoning Colony, the subsequent persecution of their alleged sedition, and their non-violent resistance to oppression.

Downloading and use of this Play is free, there is no Author's Fee - unless you are determined to turn it into a Musical, in which case, the Fee is beyond your resources. It is free, particularly to Schools, Drama Groups, Community Groups. Dialogue can be changed, the play can be shortened - as long as there is serious performance intent. I do not believe anything you do can harm the marvellous story of Mary Dyer - Quaker martyr.
